The UA is a Hit at Camp Pendleton

By Nancy Nehlsen  7.7.09

I just returned from Camp Pendleton, where I attended the Marine UA VIP graduation. What a fabulous event! Our client, the United Association of Plumbers, Fitters and HVAC Service Technicians, created an accelerated welding program to train veterans and place them in jobs quickly when they return from active duty.

Many of our veterans often have no skills to fall back on when they return from serving our country, and often re-enlist simply because they feel they have no options. I talked to several of the graduating vets and I couldn’t have been more gratified to be promoting such a great client and valuable training program.

One young woman named Ashley told me that after returning from a tour of duty in Iraq she was unemployable. “This has given me opportunities I wouldn’t have had otherwise,” she told me. “I was the only woman in the training program and I didn’t have any more trouble with the work than the guys did.” You go girl!

It’s wonderful for the Nehlsen staff to have clients they can really believe in and admire.
