Photos: "Social Media 101 for Businesses" Presentation
By Lee Brinckley, Web Marketing Director 11.5.09
Each month the Bettendorf Chamber of Commerce puts on the "Knowledge at Noon". On November 3, 2009, Nehlsen Communications gave a presentation to over 50 business professionals. We saw representatives from financial institutions, casinos, schools and colleges, engineering companies and contractors.
There was a lot to cover, but we were able to get through it. Business owners and professionals were able to walk away with a basic understanding of what social media is and common myths were addressed. Along with that understanding, they were given an explanation of different types of social media and how to know which ones can be used for their business. We gave examples of small businesses like Johnnie's Meat Market and All Purpose Plumbing to large organizations/corporations like The Home Depot and MCA Chicago who use social media.
In the end, they learned that social media is ultimately about building community and relationship through technology, but with that in mind, it is also a very effective marketing tool to build brand loyalty and awareness. If you have any questions about using social media as a marketing tool for your business, please let us know by email or calling 309.736.1071.
Below are a few pictures of the event.
