More Website Updates = More Traffic + Perceived Expertise
Business websites are long past the principle of “build it and they will come.” It is vital to engage the viewer, to be interactive. That engagement can have immediate, measurable results.
Evidence for Regular Updates
According to the Small Business Website Usage Study, 75 percent of 5,000 randomly selected websites were updated no more than once a month.
The study revealed businesses that update their website at least five times a month see more than 40 times the amount of traffic than those updating no more than once. Businesses that engage with social networks saw a 400 percent increase in website visitors.
But how can a small business accomplish this frequency within a limited amount of time?
- Write brief, regular blogs to demonstrate your expertise
- Add social media feeds to your home page
- Change out listed inventory or case studies
- Announce events, achievements or new products/services
Engage the Visitor
The key is to provide something of value to your visitors. This not only engages visitors with your business, but also builds credibility. Utilize your interactive, online presence to rise above your competition as an expert in your industry.
Take a look at your business website, then come back and tell us what you plan to first update.
